Since 2009, Dominion Voting Systems operated from 215 Spadina Ave., Toronto, ON, M5T 2C7,Canada – an office space of the radical Tides Foundation. This building houses (or housed until a few months ago) a Toronto office of "Tides" Canada and a Tides’ incubation space for leftist groups.

Nearly $170 million in government grants has passed through a liberal dark money behemoth that houses numerous left-wing groups, including the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, tax forms show.
The taxpayer-funded grants were disbursed to groups through the Tides Center, a San Francisco-based nonprofit incubator that wealthy liberal donors use to bankroll progressive causes. A number of radical left-wing groups have fallen under the auspices of the Tides Center, which acts as a "fiscal sponsor" to nonprofits by providing its 501(c)(3) tax and legal status. This arrangement lets the groups under its umbrella avoid registering with the IRS.
The grants went to liberal initiatives housed at the Tides Center over a 17-year span between 2001 and 2018 and have steadily increased over time, according to a review of the center's tax data.
"The Tides Center is as liberal and politically active as they come; its entire purpose is to create new activist groups," said Scott Walter, president of the Capital Research Center. "For example, we recently revealed that the Tides Center sponsors the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, one of the top groups in the Marxist-led BLM movement. Dominion software's reputation for reliability may have taken another hit with the claim that Eric Coomer, a vice president and dominion, and the person in charge of the software's security, is an Antifa supporter and Trump hater. This information is disturbing when added to the way in which the software churned out impossible pro-Biden results in the wee hours of November 4 in Democrat-run states following a Trump wave.
Wikipedia has deleted most of Dominion's history. I visited the page a few days ago and read about its origins in Venezuela. If you go to the Wikipedia page today, that history is gone and, in its place are accusations against QAnon. At the "view history" page, you can see dozens of recent changes since the election. The primary editor - Molly White - is a recent college grad and bisexual leftist.
These changes, along with endless "fact checks" from leftist media outlets keep burying ever more deeply the history behind Dominion. However, that history is worth dredging up because it goes a long way to explaining where we are now.
As a predicate, remember that the system is so vulnerable to hacking that, in January 2020, Texas's Secretary of State refused to certify it:

Specifically, the examiner reports raise concerns about whether the Democracy Suite 5.5-A system is suitable for its intended purpose; operates efficiently and accurately; and is safe from fraudulent or unauthorized manipulation. Therefore, the Democracy Suite 5.5-A system and corresponding hardware devices do not meet the standards for certification prescribed by Section 122.001 of the Texas Election Code.
Texas is right to be suspicious. In testimony before the Democrat-run House this past January, Dominion was one of the three voting system companies (the other two were ES&S and Hart InterCivic) that "acknowledged they relied on Chinese-made gear":Dominion Voting Systems CEO John Poulos and Hart InterCivic President Julie Mathis said their companies use Chinese-made LCD screen components, chip capacitors and resistors, arguing that in some cases there's no option for manufacturing those parts in the United States.
(Incidentally, in a January interview about that same congressional testimony, Eddie Perez, of the OSET Intitution, said that the voting systems (including Dominion) are systemic security problems. Last week, though, he told AP, "he was not aware of any systemic issue related to problems with Dominion software that would affect the tabulation of results." Hmmm.)
Dominion also has ties to the Clinton Foundation through its DELIAN project, and to Nancy Pelosi, whose aide is Dominion's D.C. lobbyist. Dominion has also been tied to numerous cases of election fraud.

SO WHO IS DOMINION SOFTWARE??
Dominion Voting Systems Corp. is the Canadian company behind the ballot switching software.
Dominion was founded in 2003, with a mission to provide electronic voting systems friendly for progressives. Because of such partisanship, it languished with almost no customers for the next 5-6 years, until the Obama administration came to power. In 2010, the Obama administration confiscated electronic voting systems assets (software, intellectual property, manufacturing tools, customer base, etc.) from two established American companies, and gave them to Dominion. At the same time, Dominion got some employees and assets from a foreign EVS (ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM) company, tied to Hugo Chavez.
Its software has been used by some 40% of the voters in this elections, mostly by Democrat-controlled states and election commissions. Apparently, no protections were put in place against ballot switching, deletion, or creation. According to Dominion’s own website, it software was used in “battleground” states and the largest Democrat states, including MI, GA, AZ, NV, NM, CO, AK, UT, NJ, CA, NY.
Dominion Early History
Dominion Voting System Corp., was founded in Canada in 2002-2003 with an openly progressive mission – to develop electronic voting software which would not just process ballots, but also “mobilize voters” – a popular slogan of the Left. How they got in to be the software company for ALL THE BATTLE GROUND STATES IS A FAILURE OF REPUBLICANS AND INDEPENDENTS TO MONITOR THIS UNHOLY ALLIANCE.
It is not clear what products or services the company has developed. It found almost no buyers, until Obama was elected in 2008. In 2009, New York ordered a few dozens of systems from it. Thats when they tested out the ability to manipulate. No one noticed! They stole local elections!
In 2010, Obama’s DOJ (Holder – Mueller) took the EVS unit, purchased from Diebold, away from the market leader ES&S, and gave it to Dominion. The beginning of the scheme to ensure Obama won against a cowardly Romney. They ensured that Romney would win against Newt Gingrich using the Dominion Voting Systems.
This gift included the installed base of about 30% of the US electronic voting systems (EVS) market. Within two weeks, Dominion also acquired Sequoia, which was formally spun from Smartmatic, but ties between these two companies remained. Smartmatic is a UK based EVS vendor, whose software was used by Chavez to “win” the Venezuelan referendum in 2004. Smartmatic’s unit Sequoia faced troubles in the US. Those troubles quickly ended when its assets were purchased by Dominion. So when the Left tells you that Smartmatic its because Dominion "Purchased" them. Nice play on the "Facts"
Thus, the new Democratic ( Socialist) party created a pocket pet corporation, gave it the lion share of the US electronic voting systems market. Dominion is ideologically aligned with the Democratic Party, owes it everything it has, dependent on it for most of its business, and needs it in power to avoid prosecution for corruption. Electronic Voting
Using electronic voting machines has always been controversial. The pros for electronic voting – saving working time of the ballot counters – are minuscule. The cons however are infinite. Because software is inherently complex, non-transparent, and volatile, there is always a risk of significant errors and ability to corrupt the process. There are also suspicions and doubts about election results. The complexity of software and hardware on which voting machines run has been continually increasing, that should have thrown up huge red flags about these Companies and their dark secret processes.
At the beginning of 2009, there were four major US EVS (ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM) suppliers:
ES&S,
Premier (a unit of Nixdorf-Diebold),
Sequoia (linked to Smartmatic), and
Hart Intercivic.
The market size was a few hundred million dollars a year and growing. EVS (ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM) vendors competed among themselves and against traditional pen and paper voting. There were no barriers to entry for other competitors, other than government’s regulations.
Electronic voting, which sounded like a good idea in the 1980s is so no more. Electronic voting machines and their vendors were under criticism for many years. In 2007-2008, this criticism materialized in the SEC, DOJ, and states lawsuits against the voting machines vendors. Diebold was catching flack for having a prominent Republican party supporter among their top executives. It spun its EVS unit as a separate company Premier, and was looking for a buyer. The existing vendors were burdened with liabilities, including DOJ investigations. This opened up an opportunity for the Obama administration. They jumped right in. Anything to "Fundamentally Transform America" right?
Technical Vulnerabilities of EVS Systems
The voting software developers can easily insert code, changing numbers in favor of or against one candidate. No hacking is necessary. The malicious code can be designed to pass tests and to be triggered only at the time of a real election, automatically or manually. Both case are possible even the the machine is disconnected from the internet and has no ordinary I/O devices. The malicious code can be activated manually in real time by inserting a ballot or another paper with a pre-defined QR or image code. An audit of the source code is necessary, but not sufficient. Dominion software runs on Windows, and the malicious code can be hidden in any part of the operating system. Malicious code can be hidden in the firmware, too.
If a state wants to take risks and to rely on testing and the source code audit, they should be conducted with the participation of technically competent representatives of both parties. If the system passes testing and auditing, the machine image must be securely stored. All supplied machines must have exactly the same hardware and the software as the audited system.
As far as I know, thorough tests and source code audits are conducted very rarely, if at all. Further, the vendors are not required to use only the audited image, and are allowed to update the software almost at will. That means that election commissions are forced to blindly trust the vendors. Blind trust is always wrong and invites abuse. But even “trust but verify” is applicable only to trustworthy vendors. Dominion Voting is the opposite of trustworthy. They started out as crooks manipulating wins for Hugo Chavez and then taken on by the Obama Cabal to fix American Elections.
The only real solution to the vulnerability of EVS is not to use them at all. Manual ballot counting has no software vulnerabilities, and is much cheaper. Virginia appears to be the only state that decided to use only manual ballots.
How Dominion went from nothing to everything in two weeks. Follow the Obama Soros Scheme!
In September 2009, ES&S acquired Premier [8], without any objections from the OBAMA DOJ run by Eric Holder and Mueller). Then.. as part of the ongoing scheme to consolidate the rigging of elections for themselves and their candidates...in March 2010, the Obama’s DOJ (Eric Holder – Robert Mueller) forced ES&S to “sell” Premier’s assets to Dominion, but to keep its liabilities. Following the picture ??
In addition, ES&S was forced to license to Dominion some of its software, in perpetuity and free of charge. The pretext for the DOJ action was antitrust. Right! The fix was being set in motion for Obama to win in 2012!
The “Sale”
This is how the assets transfer was structured, per DOJ [1] (March 8, 2010).
“WASHINGTON — The Department of Justice announced today that it will require Election Systems & Software (ES&S) to divest voting equipment systems assets it purchased in September 2009 from Premier Election Solutions Inc. in order to restore competition. The assets to be divested include the means to produce all versions of Premier’s hardware, software and firmware used to record, tabulate, transmit or report votes, including the Assure 1.2 system, and a license to better serve disabled voters. The department said that today’s settlement will restore competition in voting equipment systems in the United States… “
“In order to restore competition” right!! because the same document also required ES&S to not compete against the buyer (with exceptions).
“… the acquisition substantially reduced competition as it combined the two largest providers of systems used to tally votes in federal, state and local elections in the United States. ES&S’s acquisition of Premier made ES&S the provider of more than 70 percent of the voting equipment systems in the United States. The department said that because the cash value of the deal between ES&S and Premier was $5 million, far below the mandatory reporting threshold for mergers under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, the department’s investigation of the transaction did not begin until the companies had combined their assets and dismantled many of Premier’s operating divisions.”
Sounds like a poor pretext. The DOJ has been investigating these companies even before the merger, and was aware of it. Further, the DOJ does not allege that the merger has not been reported. Even so, why not simply demand unrolling the merger? The DOJ provides a poor excuse to demand divestiture rather than a normal unrolling. The scheme is being put into play.. 2012 is coming. They have to set up a weak Republican to win the Republican Primaries. Newt Gingrich looks tough to beat without the machines! Romney is a cuckold who will go along. They have to manipulated the machines so Romney wins.
“Under the terms of the settlement, ES&S must divest all of the intellectual property associated with all versions –past, present and in development –of the Premier voting equipment systems to another company. ES&S also must divest all Premier tooling and fixed assets, as well as inventory of parts and components. In order to allow the divestiture buyer to better serve disabled voters, ES&S must also grant a fully paid-up, irrevocable, perpetual license to use the AutoMARK, ES&S’s ballot marking device for which Premier had a limited license prior to the acquisition. The buyer of the divestiture assets will have the right to modify and improve both Premier products and the AutoMARK.”
Thus, the Obama’s DOJ stripped ES&S not only acquired Premier assets, but also coerced it to license rights to its pre-merger product.
“ES&S must sell the divestiture assets to a buyer approved by the department.”
This is not selling. This is confiscation multiplied by corruption.
“The settlement prohibits ES&S from bidding on new voting equipment system contracts using the Premier equipment. [transferred to Dominion]”
Wait, didn’t they say that the purpose was to increase the competition? ANY MACHINE THAT COULD POSSIBLE BE COMPETITION OR REPUBLICAN LEANING HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED FROM THE PLAYING FIELD!
“The department also required that ES&S grant the divestiture buyer an opportunity to compete to provide services to Premier customers currently under contract with ES&S, giving customers the option to switch to the divestiture buyer or to remain with ES&S … ES&S also must provide access to knowledgeable Premier employees and agree to offer a supply agreement to allow the divestiture buyer time to establish its own manufacturing of voting equipment systems.”
But check this out....The approved divestiture buyer, Dominion Voting, is not mentioned in this press release. But this quote shows that the DOJ has already determined the “approved buyer,” and knew that it had no manufacturing base. They cannot let the cat out of the bag that the company that helped Hugo Chavez cheat in Venezuela is now going to be the main player in the US Battle Ground State Vote Manipulation for Obama against the Republican Patsy.. and they are working on making sure its Good Old Flip unprincipled Romney.
After the “Sale”
Dominion announced the acquisition of the Diebold products on May 19, 2010 [2] and the acquisition of Sequoia Voting assets on June 4, 2010 [3]. Dominion also hired much of its personnel, probably retaining ties to extremely sketchy Smartmatic. Sequoia/Smartmatic systems had been used in the Venezuela 2004 referendum, which Hugo Chavez “won”. Smartmatic is a British company with Hugo Chavez ties, headed by “Lord” Malloch-Brown (former UN Deputy Secretary-General, UNDP, UNHCR, VP of Soros’ Quantum Fund, and Vice Chair of Soros’ Open Society Foundation) [7], and linked to electoral scandals all over the world [5].
In August 2009 the rough breakdown of the EVS market in the US was (per Brad Friedman):
40% ES&S
30% Diebold/Premier
20% Sequoia/Smartmatic
10% Hart Intercivic
0% Dominion Voting
Less than a year later, after the “antitrust” actions of Obama’s DOJ, it became:
50% Dominion
40% ES&S (restricted in competing against Dominion)
10% Hart Intercivic
Thus, the DOJ’s actions did the exact opposite of its words.
An elections system vendor should be non-partisan, in a demonstrable way. Dominion is not just partisan, but hyper-partisan in favor of the Democrat party, or even its pocket vendor.

Dominion develops much of its software in Belgrade, Serbia. Russia is a close friend to Serbia, if not its only one. If anybody sincerely thought that Putin wanted to hack American elections, their first location of interest would be the offices of Dominion Voting in Belgrade, rather than the Trump Tower in New York.
By the way, Serbian and Russian languages use the Cyrillic alphabet. Most letters have the same Unicode encoding in Serbian and Russian (the Basic Multilingual Plane, range 0410-04FF). If any election officials found Cyrillic text on a Dominion voting machine in 2016, it was probably left by its developers in Serbia.

UPDATE: Did The US "Raid" Scytl And Seize The Election Server
UPDATE: No official confirmation to this point, although the three principle members of Trump's legal team have commented in one way or another. Rudy Giuliani declined to confirm whether or not he's had discussions with US intel officials. Sidney Powell and Lin Wood both appear to believe that there has been a seizure of election related servers at the Scytl facility in Frankfurt Germany. All we can do at this point is wait for confirmation.
To reaffirm what I say below and what I mentioned in an exchange with commenter Mike Sylwester, for the US to take possession of these servers the US agencies involved--which would ultimately, as I understand this to be a criminal investigation, would be DoJ/FBI--would need to satisfy German law. Alternatively, there could be some bi-lateral agreement between the two countries that the two countries would honor representations made by the other. The point is, the US would have to assert a justification for the seizure under either/both US and German law that would be equivalent to what we call "probable cause". German law could be easier or more difficult to satisfy as regards the evidentiary standard to be satisfied.
As a practical matter, DoJ would have had to examine allegations of fraud after the election and decide whether they were met a standard on which a criminal investigation could be predicated. That evaluation would need to be done specifically with regard to these servers in order to apply for a search/seizure warrant. 'Garden variety' voter fraud would not suffice--it would need to pertain to activity on the servers. At that point DoJ--and possibly DoS--could enter discussions with their German counterparts and, if all requirements were satisfied, arrange for the transfer/seizure of the servers into US custody.
The importance of this is that if, indeed, a seizure has been made, a prior evidentiary determination has been made--ultimately by Barr accepting it. That determination would not be dispositive of whether or not a crime occurred, but would be considered probable cause sufficient to get a search/seizure warrant--not a small thing.
As you know by know, Scytl is the company headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany, that has the servers that control and store the Dominion generated election data. (I probably haven't described that with 100% accuracy, but you'll get the picture.) We've all seen the highly improbable voting data for several swing states that strongly suggest computer driven manipulation, but without the data on the servers at Scytl proof--one way or another--may be lacking.
Earlier today there were reports that the US military had raided Scytl's facility in Frankfurt and seized the servers there. It was very difficult to track down the source of those reports, although Sidney Powell and Lin Wood--both on Trump's legal team--seemed to hint that those reports were true--I covered these early reports in I Can't Actually Confirm This.
Tonight there are additional reports confirming that the servers were seized by the US. Details remain sketchy and likely unreliable in some details, especially from a strictly legal standpoint. I offered my caveats on the other thread--that I believed DoJ (and probably the FBI, via its Legat Office in Germany) would need to be involved and would be required to go through some legal process before Germany would allow them to take custody of property that was on German soil. TGP offers what seems to me the most plausible explanation, if these reports are accurate, and confirms what I said on the other thread:
From our source: The US government, once they determined that this Dominion server was involved in switching votes, then the intelligence community began a search for the server and discovered that the server was in Germany. In order to get access to that server and have it available for use in a legal manner they had to have the State Department work in tandem with the Department of Justice. They had to request that the government of Germany cooperate in allowing this seizure of this server.
The appropriate documents required to affect that kind of seizure were put in place, signed off on, and it appears there was also US military support in this operation. The US military was not in the lead. But this helps explain why Esper was fired and Miller and Kash Patel were put in place — so that the military would not interfere with the operation in any way.
By getting ahold of the server they now are going to have the direct evidence of when they were instructed to stop counting. They will also discover who gave the direction to stop counting and who initiated the algorithm that started switching votes. The CIA was completely excluded from this operation.
Some observations--again with the caveat: If these reports are accurate.
First: "The CIA was completely excluded from this operation." This is a legal operation or, more precisely, it appears to be a criminal investigative operation, a search and seizure, and has to do with criminal violations of election laws in the US. The CIA has no role to play in such matters. Because this is a criminal investigation, that means--as TGP indicates--that this is being driven by DoJ, with FBI involved as well. State Department would be facilitating liaison between the Justice components of the two governments. It's not surprising that it's taken over a week to get this done, since each government had to jump through their own legal hoops.
Second: We read in the last paragraph the use of the pronoun "they". In my opinion, this must refer to DoJ, per what I just wrote. So, DoJ now has the evidence they will need for their investigation--the forensics being handled by the FBI or by others working at the direction of the FBI. DoJ and the FBI will be the ones finding out what happened.
Third: If anyone wants to substitute "AG Bill Barr" for "DoJ" in what I've just written--go ahead. Barr is surely the person who has been driving this process. Once he understood what was needed and what role DoJ could play, he wasted no time doing it. DoJ's role is to conduct a criminal investigation. Acquiring this server is the type of thing that DoJ can do quickly and efficiently. That would not be the case with trying to track down every instance of voter fraud across several states in the Midwest. The ins and out of election law will need to be handled by Trump's legal team.
Fourth: Note again that Powell and Wood, while hinting at these developments, are not fully in the know. That's because they are Trump's personal lawyers. DoJ is conducting this investigation on behalf of the US Government, not strictly speaking for Citizen Trump--although, depending on results, this could be of immense importance to Trump. Barr knows all that, knows what the stakes are for the government, knows all the deadlines, and will not dawdle. He also has the discretion to make what he learns public. He will also take every precaution to maintain the proper legal distinctions between the DoJ and Trump's personal legal team, which has no role to play in the criminal investigation--beyond offering information to DoJ/FBI.
Finally: It's not surprising that this operation has been conducted in the strictest secrecy.

History of Sequoia Voting Systems,Inc
REPORT OVERVIEW
This report aims to provide background information regarding the fraud-related entities, including Sequoia voting systems, Smartmatic, Dominion voting systems and Sequoia Capital China, and to reveal their complex relationship and connections.
BACKGROUND
Automatic Voting Machine Company or AVM
The Shoup Voting Machine Corporation was an American manufacturer of voting machines, founded in New Jersey in 1905 by Samuel R. Shoup. It changed names and locations over the years, before going out of business as Advanced Voting Solutions, Inc. of Frisco, Texas in 2015.
Sequoia Voting Systems
The company’s predecessor was a California-based company, and it was one of the largest suppliers of electronic voting systems in the U.S. In 1984, Sequoia Pacific Systems acquired the voting machine business of AVM and reorganized it as Sequoia Voting Systems, Inc. Under Sequoia’s ownership, the AVM was certified for use in several states in 1986 and 1987, with sleek new packaging, it went to public in 1990 as Sequoia AVC Advantage DRE voting machines.
Smartmatic
On March 8, 2005, Sequoia was acquired by Smartmatic, a multi-national technology company which had developed advanced election systems, voting machines included. Since then, Smartmatic has dedicated much of its development and management team to modifying some of Sequoia’s older, traditional voting machines, and replacing their technology with avant-garde proprietary features and developments, which resulted in new, high-tech products.
Following this acquisition, U.S. Representative Carolyn B. Maloney requested an investigation to determine whether the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) had followed correct processes to green-light sale of Sequoia to Smartmatic, which was described as having “possible ties to the Venezuelan government” So, in November 2007, following a ruling by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), Smartmatic was ordered to sell Sequoia Voting Systems.
Dominion Voting Systems
The company was founded in 2002 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, by John Poulos and James Hoover. Dominion is the second largest seller of voting machines in the U.S. In 2016, its machines served 70 million voters in 1,600 jurisdictions. In 2019, the state of Georgia selected Dominion Voting Systems to provide its new statewide voting system beginning in 2020.
In June 2010, Dominion acquired Sequoia Voting Systems.
Neil Shen and Sequoia Capital China
Shen is a naturalized Singaporean entrepreneur, and is a member of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference since 2018.
He is the Founding & Managing Partner of Sequoia Capital China. Before joining Sequoia, he was a well-known entrepreneur, co-founder of the travel site Ctrip.com (NASDAQ: CTRP) and Home Inns (NASDAQ: HMIN), and also worked as an investment banker at Deutsche Bank Hong Kong, Chemical Bank, Lehman Brothers, and Citibank.
Sequoia Capital China was established in 2005 as an affiliate to the U.S. firm under the leadership of Shen. Since 2005, Sequoia Capital China has invested over 200 Chinese companies, many of which are within the field of internet and listed in NASDAQ or HKEX, such as Alibaba, JD, PDD, and MEITUAN. The investment has been so successful and in such a large scale that Sequoia Capital China is said to have bought half of China’s internet industry.

Acquisition of AVM by Sequoia Voting Systems
In 1984, Sequoia purchased the voting machine business of AVM Corporation and was reorganized as Sequoia Voting Systems. Under Sequoia ownership, the AVC was certified for use in several states in 1986 and 1987, and with sleek new packaging, it went to market as the Sequoia AVC Advantage DRE voting machine in 1990.
In late 1997, Sequoia obtained the intellectual property rights to the Optech line of ballot scanners from Business Records Corporation. This transfer was a consequence of antitrust action taken by the United States Department of Justice when American Information Systems merged with the Election Services Division of Business Records Corporation to form Election Systems & Software. After this merger ES&S retained the right to sell and service Optech scanners to existing customers; as a result, the ES&S Optech IV-C and the Sequoia Optech 400-C, for example, are essentially the same device.
Smartmatic acquired Sequoia Voting System in 2005
In early 2002 De La Rue, a British currency paper printing and security company took over ownership from its parent company, Ireland-based Jefferson Smurfit Group PLC for $23 million. After losing money for several years, on March 8, 2005, Sequoia was acquired by Smartmatic, a multi-national technology company which had developed advanced election systems, voting machines included.
On July 10, 2006, 18:01 (Monday), Political Counselor Robert Downes, wired a Confidential-class document from Caracas to over 13 US overseas embassies.
The document released by Wikileaks. From the wire, the public acknowledged that SEQUOIA, as a subsidiary of SMARTMATIC which owned probably by a strain of Venezuelan politico elites, working in a dozen U.S. states.
By the way, SMARTMATIC, is that the company is de facto Venezuelan and operated by Venezuelans.
Smartmatic was ordered to sell Sequoia
After acquired Sequoia, Smartmatic assigned a major portion of its development and managerial teams, dedicated to revamping some of Sequoia’s old-fashioned, legacy voting machines, and replacing their technology with avant-garde proprietary features and developments, which resulted in new, high-tech products. As a result, Sequoia sold many new-generation election products and experienced a healthy financial resurrection during the fiscal years of 2006 and 2007. However, in November 2007, following a verdict by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), Smartmatic was ordered to sell Sequoia, which it did to its Sequoia managers having U.S. citizenship.
The company was contracted in 2004 for the automation of electoral processes in Venezuela. Since 2004, its election technology has been used in local and national elections in Africa, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Italy, Mexico, the Philippines, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States and Venezuela.
After the presidential recall referendum of 2004 in Venezuela, some controversy was raised about the use of electronic voting (SAES voting machines) in that country. Studies following the 2004 Venezuela recall elections found that Smartmatic’s network was “bi-directional” with data being able to be transferred both ways between Smartmatic devices and the telecommunications company CANTV, with alleged irregularities found between the Smartmatic and Venezuela’s National Electoral Council election results. The outcome could have been altered from about 60% against the sitting president, to 58% for the sitting president.
Smartmatic stated that the results of the 2017 Venezuelan Constituent Assembly election were manipulated. On August 2 of 2017, Smartmatic CEO Antonio Mugica stated on a press briefing in London “We know, without a doubt, that the result of the recent elections for a National Constituent Assembly were manipulated,” and added “We estimate that the difference between actual and announced participation by the authorities is at least one million votes.” The company said that the turnout was off by at least one million votes. Reuters also reported that according to internal CNE documents leaked to the agency, only 3,720,465 votes were cast thirty minutes before polls were expected to close, though polls were open for an additional hour.[95] The company later left Venezuela in 2018.
The Wall Street Journal wrote that “Smartmatic scrapped a simple corporate structure” of being based in Boca Raton “for a far more complex arrangement” of being located in multiple locations following the Sequoia incident. Though Smartmatic has made differing statements saying that they were either American or Dutch based, the United States Department of State stated that its Venezuelan owners “remain hidden behind a web of holding companies in the Netherlands and Barbados”. The New York Times states that “the role of the young Venezuelan engineers who founded Smartmatic has become less visible” and that its organization is “an elaborate web of offshore companies and foreign trusts”, while BBC News states that though Smartmatic says the company was founded in the United States, “its roots are firmly anchored in (Venezuela)”. Multiple sources simply state that Smartmatic is a Venezuelan company. Smartmatic maintains that the holding companies in multiple countries are used for “tax efficiency“.
Dominion Voting Systems Acquired Sequoia in 2010
In May 2010, Dominion acquired Premier Election Solutions (formerly Diebold Election Systems) from Election Systems & Software (ES&S). ES&S had just acquired PES from Diebold and was required to sell off PES by the United States Department of Justice for anti-trust concerns. In June 2010, Dominion acquired Sequoia Voting Systems.
After the 2020 U.S. presidential election, Dominion either deleted or gave millions of votes that had been cast for President Trump to rival Joe Biden. Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney, made several assertions about Dominion, including that his Dominion used software developed by rival Smartmatic, which he claimed was actually Dominion’s property, and that the software was developed by former Venezuelan socialist leader Hugo Chávez Biden. The company was founded by Giuliani. Giuliani asserts that the Dominion voting machines sent their voting data abroad to Smartmatic, an “anti-radical leftist” company with ties to antifa. Dennis Montgomery, a Dominion software designer, claimed to have used a government supercomputer program to change the ballots on the voting machines from Trump to Biden. Sidney Powell, a Trump attorney, claims that the Dominion voting system interfered in U.S. elections on a massive scale. “There’s a flood of evidence that proves that’s true.” Powell also claims she has a very strong witness who explains how it all works. His affidavit was attached to a brief filed by attorney Lynn Wood, who filed the lawsuit in Georgia.
